Alix Discusses CBD & Endometriosis

Had you ever tried CBD before discovering Cannacares?

I’d never tried it but I’d obviously heard of it before. I had seen it online, magazines, Instagram as there’s been quite a lot of hype around it. I actually went into a CBD shop and they were talking about how it was great for chronic illnesses but it was too expensive for me at the time. I wasn’t keen on spending £80 on something that may not work. Like a lot of people, I have always been quite dubious about holistic and natural remedies.

How has CBD helped your Endometriosis?

Endometriosis gives me a lot of pelvic pain and I’ve had several operations to remove the tissue that causes this. When I first used the CBD Patches I was surprised that I could feel so much difference. Although it doesn’t necessarily stop it completely, it relaxes my muscles so that I can cope with the pain better and it also reduces a lot of my stress and anxiety which often makes it worse.

What do you like about the patches?

I usually take tramadol on bad pain days and they can make me feel really sick sometimes. I think it's great that CBD is a natural option that I can reach for. I take pills for my endometriosis and then I also take pills to counteract the side effects of those pills so it’s nice to know that CBD doesn’t cause any extra problems. I use it mostly when I go to bed. I’m not sure if it lasts for the full 24 hours but it’s long enough to make sure I get a good night sleep as I can get insomnia when the pain is really bad. I’m going on holiday soon and I often worry about the pain the next day when I drink alcohol. Endometriosis is an inflammatory disease and alcohol causes inflammation so it often causes flare ups. It’s great to know that I will have these to use now if it gets bad.

What products have you tried from the Cannacares range and which do you consider to be your favourite?

I have only tried the CBD patches at this point. As I said, I like them for sleep as I find the hit of CBD quite strong for me and it makes me quite lethargic. I wouldn’t want to use them during the day because of this, unless the pain was really bad. I’ve always wanted to try the drops and I know you have a WAKE range so I’d like to try that for CBD relief in the day.

Did you benefit from the information available on the Cannacares website?

I’m quite a laid back person so I was open to trying the products, especially as the price point was so affordable. I was recommended Cannacares so I was excited to see if they actually could help. There have been times where I’ve been on Endo forums and people are desperate for helpful resources, advice and personal experiences with products like CBD. I think it’s great that Cannacares are producing resources like this that people use to take responsibility for their wellbeing.

Will you be paying a visit to one of our pop-up stores in Hampstead, Guildford or Farnham?

I’m in London quite a bit so I would visit Hampstead if I was in the area. I think people always like a physical place to go in to explore and talk about what options they have.
