To put it bluntly, yes CBD is legal in the UK.
In 2015, the insertion of The Misuse of Drugs (Designation) paved the way for the legalisation of Medical Cannabis. This was followed by the November 2018 announcement by the UK Government that “patients can be prescribed medicinal cannabis by specialist doctors.
”Finally, in February 2020, CBD gained its current status as a novel food. This was outlined in the 2020 Novel Food Legislation. A novel food is defined as "food that had not been consumed to a significant degree by humans in the EU before 15 May 1997, when the first Regulation on novel food came into force.
